I found the following workaround, although it is may not be an exact match with your hardware. For this reason I would ask that you first paste the output of the following two commands:

$ cat /proc/asound/card*/codec#* 2>/dev/null | grep Codec
$ lspci -nnk | awk 'BEGIN {x=0; IGNORECASE=1}; /^[^\t]/ {x=0}; /udio/ {x=1}; x == 1 {print}'
I was able to get all the audio issues fixed by adding "options snd-hda-intel model=thinkpad" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
