ubuntu 8.04 unable to watch youtube

Hi,

Am an absolute newbie to ubuntu. I think i have installed flash 10 and also tried to remove gnash. When I try to open a video on youtube, I get a black screen with a small 'play' icon. when i click on this, VLC opens and says Error: Unable to open 'about:blank'

please ask if you need further details.

Can someone give me a step-by-step help to solve this problem. Am normally home between 6 and 10 pm (GMT+1). .. if this helps.

Hi again,

Some more info: Just realized that i had installed the add-on 'media player connectivity'. So after I disabled this I simply get a black screen for any video on youtube - no play button or anything. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi guys,

Thx for the quick reply. Apparently, I noticed that I had an add-on called Flashblock 1.3.9a. All I had to do was to disable it.
