you probably need to setup your input to read from the webcam microphone.
Applications > Sound and Video > Sound Recorder
File > Open Volume Control
Make sure the hardward is registered on the "Hardware" tab. For me, it says "0807 Analog Mono Input"
Then make sure that device is selected from the "Input" tab. You should see the volume bar moving in that tab when making noise.
Now use Sound Recorder to verify you can record the sound input. Should work with Skype after that.
I have a c500.
Go to system/preferences/sound/
then select the input tab.
you need to select the web cam mic.
0807 analog momo.
After I selected it the mic was working.

anyone know how to get the C500 (logitech) to work in firefox? im pretty new to ubuntu, but the webcam works fine with cheese & skype...but not firefox.
any help?
