    Adjusting To The Re-booted Forum

I think some clarifications are needed, would appreciate some answers.

Was thrown by the way Ubuntu decided to reset everything. When my Evernote account was hacked I was required to choose a new password, no big deal. But Ubuntu now has my account tied to four other accounts. I'm concerned that this might ultimately leave me less, not more secure.

Also, my ID and old account is gone, aligning my Ubuntu One email to my old Forum email did not work, it just greys out my new ID without the option to change it.

What is the danger of realigning to my old ID and old email that was hacked? Are users better off not connecting to their old accounts even if they change their passwords due to everything having been hacked?

Finally, if there is an issue with using my old ID and old email to get back all my posts, I would rather not have a Ubuntu Forum account connected to my Ubuntu One account, if I am starting over anyway, don't force me to use my Ubuntu One info to do so, thus tying it to a credit card account.

Not trying to come off as cantankerous, I just think we need more information about the new Ubuntu Forum reality related to our old information.
    Thanks!

Your old id should still be here. Do a search for the username, then click on the name to show the profile. Mine is there, I just can't get the correct username to login. lol It'll all get sorted eventually--be patient.

To clarify, all user account information is still in the database, if you can't access your account, it's because of a difference in your email address, a problem you will have to resolve your self. Check out the faq here.

Thanks, but resetting my email address at Ubuntu One to the one I used at the forum did not realign to my old account. Strangely, I'm getting these replies at my Ubuntu One email address even though I changed that to the old forum address and set it as primary. Clearly some hiccups in the system. I appreciate your taking the time to respond.

The way it works is that once your Ubuntu One account is associated with a forum account, the association remains locked even if you change username and/or password on either or both accounts. The association takes place one time only on first login from Ubuntu One. If a matching email is found in the forum database, that forum account is associated with the Ubuntu One account. If no matching email is found, a new forum account is created with that email and the Ubuntu One name. The strange random string names you might have seen were due to a bug which is fixed now.

The only way to disassociate a forum account from Ubuntu One is to catch the attention of a friendly forum admin! And this friendly admin has disassociated this account for you.

If you logout and login from Ubuntu SSO one now with the preferred email set to this account's email, you will arrive back in this account. If you set the Ubuntu One preferred email to that in your old account, you will end up in the old account, and the old account and your Ubuntu One account will be associated.

If you need help with your forum account, such as SSO login issues, username changes, etc, the correct place to contact an admin is here. Please do not PM me about these matters unless you have been asked to - unsolicited PMs concerning forum accounts will be ignored.
