ubuntu 9.10 cannot browse the internet

I just did a clean install of Ubuntu 9.10, and I now regret leaving 9.04. I cannot browse the web. Here's situation:
I can connect to my home wireless network, but trying to browse through firefox does not work. I ONCE reloaded Synaptic but now I can't even do that. I tried WICD, and that has an error starting. I decided to try the LiveCD and even that cannot connect. IS there a different method of connecting to the internet on 9.10? The strange thing is the System tests detect a working Internet connection.

I think I am having the same similar problem. I am new to UBUNTU so I am getting quite frustrated. It says that I am connected to my wireless network but I can't surf the internet. Every pages comes up as "server not found."

You show a valid IP address (not 169.254.X.X)?
