There is no need to downgrade by installing an obsolete ubuntu version.
There are many howtos around to compile a realtime-kernel yourself, it's quite easy. Or just google for some debian or ubuntu...
have a look at this :D
http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-rt-users/msg06759.html
kernelupdates to 2.6.32-26 and -27 break wlan connectivity
which was working ootb until 2.6.32-25.
Lenovo notebook g550, unbuntu lucid 10.04 amd64
any suggestions?
have a look for a lenovo g550 w/o os I think it's one with very good price-benefit ratio if you don't need firewire and it's ootb ubuntu compatible.
identify your hardware by
lspci or
lsusb, go to this page and try to find the fitting driver

google for 'gnokii' and 'wammu'
I voted Yes because all standard applications on all customary hardware are available ootb in ubuntu, easy to handle, stable running, so that my wife, who hated computers over years, does all her...
I think you will have no chance to change the graphics chip, so you have to make the best of your i945.
In this dv6000 series amd as well as intel cpus and graphic chips from ati, intel and nvidia...
I downloaded actual driver for my card from Nvidia's site. Removed all Nvidia related stuff in synaptic except nv or simply
sudo apt-get purge nvidia* and installed the driver manually. There are...
hi,
I ran into similar issues when I tried to upgrade a "heavy customized" (not to say "messed up") 9.10. My solution was an install via a 10.04 usb boot stick over the corrupted installation...
I just resized an xp to get free space for an experimental lucid installation. This is my way i did it several times: After backing up important stuff first I also resize window's ntfs partition with...
I also had some minor troubles with 2.6.31-16. For me they are fixed in -17. You'll get it by activating "proposed" in your sorces software update list. After downloading this kernel and maybe the...
for me it's my professional workspace Turbomed. Server is Linux compliant, but clients are designed only for MS and I did not manage running them full functionally in wine :( still now I was too...
It's no real upgrade. You'll install a lot of audio, video, graphics stuff from repos and esp. this rt-kernel.
With rt-kernels I had some troubles with my nvidia card and wireless, but these were...
Main difference is the realtime kernel for ubuntustudio. You may have to do some configuration too, but then you can run audio applications smoothly with very low latency, i.e. very little time lag...

good luck :)
had a similar problem some updates ago. In lsmod my wlan driver was gone, had to load it manually.
In your case try:
sudo modprobe ipw2200
Glad to read your prob is solved too.
Guess it had something to do with dist-upgrading from 9.04. In my other partition I had done a clean karmic x86_64 install for audio production and there I...
Had the same problem and after some reading and fiddling I looked into /etc/rc0.d and compared it with the same folder in a parallel install which has no probs with shutdown. The file...

If you didn't backup jaunty's file system and have enough disk space I'd recommend to reinstall 9.04 as dual boot. So you keep your working space as well as the option to observe 9.10's updates and...
From your new karmic you will have access by mounting the partition contenting your old user directory as well as jaunty's filesystem - or did you store your emails, settings and docs in the...
